Here's a video of YouCity's incredible 3d map of Manhattan- all made of true 3D buildings. Looks very much like SC3000.

Cityscape in Crysis
Here's Skape 3D Map of Leicester England to give you an idea of what to expect:
Cities XL comes close to this but the level of detail shown in this video is much greater. Makes you wonder about the next gen city builder. Also, makes you wonder how AI would be integrated into the simulator. GTA IV (despite being controversial) does a good job of integrating AI with the environment as show below.

SimCity Tutorial Videos
I discovered some great SC4 tutorial videos after visiting YouTube today. I found a helpful video on laying NAM EL over road transit pieces
It's always nice to see step by step tutorials because sometimes we need visual aids and video tutorials show us exactly what to do. Very handy aid to written tutorials. You can find more SimCity 4 tutorials on YouTube.
Speaking of tutorials I'm thinking of putting together a tutorial myself on how to make realistic recreations in SimCity but that's a future project so you'll have to wait for that one.

3D New York Video
After a little time away behind the scenes tweaking the site design I'm back.
It's always interesting to finding expansive or nearly complete 3d models of New York (among other cities). Though, it's even better to see them streaming in real time. Here's another video clip of an amazing 3D model of Manhattan created by Screampoint.
More coming up next time.

London Imported into Crysis
Just a bit of slightly off topic news for today. The creative team at Digital Urban have imported a Google Earth model of London into the Crysis engine. The results look very nice and should look great once everything is textured.

New York in SimCity Video
I've put together a video recapping the project for new users who don't want to dig through the archives of previous updates. So sit back, relax and enjoy.

3D New York Video
A bit of digital inspiration for the New York City Journals was found while browsing around YouTube today. I came across a 3D digital model of New York (or at least Downtown and Midtown).
The streets are rendered in amazing detail and the buildings have photo-realistic textures on them. Times Square appears to be dated as some buildings are missing which implies the model was created a couple years ago. Still, the 3D model of New York is something to be admired.
To be able to fly around the streets of New York like that in SimCity 4. Maybe in SimCity 5.
