Sim New York Update

It's been a while since I've done a proper update on my Sim NYC project. Due to the great contributions by the NY BAT team there are more buildings dotting the sim skyline. We'll look at how Midtown and Lower Manhattan are coming along. Progress photos after the jump.

First up an overview of the map. Midtown and Lower Manhattan are starting to take shape. Despite being inaccurate in scale the wider map of Manhattan worked out in the end to accommodate the lot sizes of the skyscrapers.

Taking a closer look at Midtown and Lower Manhhatan

Midtown had to completely redone after running into some complications with inaccuracies with the street grid. Some buildings are temporary place holder (the buildings standing in for 500 Fifth Avenue for instance)

Lower Manhattan is more complete.

Summer in Central Park

The final weeks of summer are upon us. Let's enjoy the weather while we still can, the Sim New Yorker's certainly are in Central Park.

SimNew York Turns Five!

The project turned five a month or two ago but I have not had time to make an update until now.

I'm celebrating by giving two 3D gift's to all the BATer's out there and taking a look back at the history of New York being created in SimCity and showing what's around the curve for Sim New York as well as a few other projects I'm working on.

Next month I'll be releasing The Globe from the World Trade Center to pay tribute to 9/11 as well as the long awaited Park Avenue Tower.

We'll also take a look a the different looks of various New York's taxis cruising around the streets of New York since they were painted the iconic yellow in the 1970's and we'll head to the Queens for a second installment of my neighborhood spotlight series.

Sneak Peak at Tribeca

Tribeca is a neighborhood in Manhattan that is known as the Triangle Below Canal. It's located between Canal Street to the north, Broadway to the east, the Hudson River to the west and Chambers Street to the south. Here's a sneak peak at Tribeca in SimCity.


Tribeca has managed to maintain and preserve many of the original brick streets that once paved the city. It is one of the neighborhoods which has the most brick streets in Manhattan, in not in the entire city.


Luxurious lofts, and other unique and beautiful buildings house the residents and businesses located in Tribeca, but you'll have to pay a pretty penny to even rent here as Tribeca is Manhattan's most expensive neighborhood.

Around Town: Summer in New York

It's the middle of summer in New York City. Here are a couple of popular New York summer spots from around the town. First stop the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

The Brooklyn Heights Promenade is a great place to stroll along on a nice summer day and take in the dramatic views of the city riverside. See the views.



Next up a great summer spot in the Village, Washington Square Park. Surrounded by the New York University campus Washington Square Park is the backyard of Greenwich Village (and is also the unofficial "quad" of NYU).



Sit and relax by the fountain, play with your dog at the new dog run or pick a shady spot and watch the street performers.

Finally, we head to the Theater District to the Ed Sullivan Theater where The Late Show with David Letterman is filmed.



In the summertime at 53rd and Broadway tourist can be often seen waiting in line to get tickets to the Late Show. Some may stop by Rupert G's deli around the corner or crowd around to see the celebrity guests get out of their limos. Though tonight taping has ended and the only way to see the show is on TV.
