We'll have more tomorrow.

Randall's, Wards and Riker's Island

We're wrapping up our tour of the lesser known island's by going to Randall's Ward's and Riker's Island. First up Randall's Island.

The island sat as natural land until they were purchased by Jonathan Randal and then the city of New York in 1855. Randall's island and Ward's Island are the same land
mass but a small inlet forms the boundary between the two islands. Even though the island's lay in between the Bronx, Queens and Manhattan they are technically part of Manhattan.

The island one of the better connected island and allows access to Manhattan via a pedestrian footbridge which lifts up to allow boats to pass under and of course the Triborough Bridge which connects Manhattan, the Bronx, and Queens.

Most of Randall's Island serves as a city park with recreational and sports fatalities constructed by the Randall’s Island Sports Foundation. The RISF was founded in 1992 to enhance the island and bring extra revenue in for the city. The island has more than 500 acres are composed of baseball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis courts and other sports complexes.

During his infamous reign as New York City commissioner and planner, Robert Moses wanted to turn both islands into a giant sports complex. Though, his proposal was unpopular with residents who wanted to and it to make it a nature reserve. Seems Moses got his wish many years later.

Randall's and Ward's Island also are home to 1,386 residents according to the latest census data.

During the Summer many people flock to the island for picnics and sporting events.

Old Downing Stadium

Constructed in 1934 Downing Stadium served as a Football stadium for high school and college events. It was torn down in 2000 to make way for Icahn Stadium which now stands in it's place.

Icahn Stadium

Built in 2005, the new $42 million dollar Icahn Stadium. The complex hosts soccer, lacrosse, and track and field events. It is named after billionaire investor Carl Ichan who donated $10 million towards the construction.

The stadium is the island main attraction and a part of the RISF plan to develop the park into a major sports and recreation center, complete with a water park, expanded baseball and soccer fields, and a nature center.

Randall's Island Driving Range.

A rare site in the middle of New York City, a driving range. The driving range is part of the Randall's Island Golf Center which has a 80-station driving range, and two 18-hole miniature golf courses.

Sunken Meadows Baseball Fields

Built on old marshy land this Sunken Meadows Baseball Fields are one of many baseball fields around the island.

An eleven building complex, known to trainees as "The Rock" the fire academy boasts
a 200,000 gallon water supply tank, a suction pit for drafting tests, and a heavy-duty storm draining system to accommodate water runoff from fire simulations. There are also gasoline and diesel fuel pumps and a 300-car parking lot .

Riker's Island

Riker's Island is New York's version of Alcatraz and is operated by the New York City Department of Correction.

The island is named after Abraham Rycken, a Dutch settler who moved to the city in 1638 and whose descendants owned Rikers Island until 1884 has been used as a city jail ever since.
The only access to and from the island is by a single bridge connected to Queens.

A few years ago the jail was filled to th point of overflowing, and an 800-bed barge was installed on the East River to accommodate the extra inmates.

The Other New York Recreation Project

That's right, I have two New York recreation's going on simultaneously. This recreation project in SimCity 4; which this blog is about and the other recreation project using Google Earth. For those unaware, "Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world's geographic information at your fingertips."

The program originally came with very general 3D massing models of major cities around the world, but these models were untextured and some were modeled inaccurately. While interesting, the 3D models of the cities could be improved upon to look more realistic.

Recently Google purchase Sketchup and launched the 3D Warehouse where Google Earth users can upload and download fully textured 3D models of anything and everything. Rather than trying to make the city models better, Google gave modeling power to millions of users around the world in the form of Google Sketchup and the 3D Warehouse. Enter Google New York.

One Liberty Plaza

One Liberty Plaza finally makes its way into SimCity!

Despite being just over 40 years old One Liberty Plaza already has quite a history.

Formerly the headquarters for the US Steel Company the building was completed in 1968 and is 54 stories.

It replaced the grand and ornate Singer Building and was noted to be an eye sore, according to many critics due to its modernist style conflicting with the other buildings around it (at that time)

During the 9/11 attacks most of the western windows were blown out and the much of interior was damaged. The upscale Brooks Brother store in the lobby was even used as a temporary morgue in the days immediately following 9/11.

Today, it has become a recognizable building in the skyline of Lower Manhattan and the lobby has undergone an extensive renovation and is still one of the largest office buildings in Manhattan.

Sony Tower

This BAT has a minor LOD glitch and is released as is. I can't fix it due to the model being erased accidentally during a virus attack :( You will need WinRar to unzip the file.

After a long wait my BAT of Sony Tower is finally available. Sitting at 560 Madison Avenue Constructed in 1986 and designed by Philip Johnson this postmodern 37 story skyscraper is one of the most iconic buildings in the Midtown skyline.

The building is made of the same granite as the one used on Grand Central Station and is currently home to the Sony Corporation. It was used as the headquarters for AT&T until 1998 when AT&T became Verizon Wireless and moved to the Verizon Building on 6th Avenue.

The building became famous for its Chippendale tower, designed after 18th cabinet-maker, Thomas Chippendale signature style cabinets.

There is also an indoor 10 story glass atrium on the back of the building where tired office workers (and tourists) can sit and relax amongst the skyscrapers of Madison Avenue.

Staten Island Borough Hall

A piece of Staten Island for your cities. Completed in 1906 the Staten Island Borough Hall is located on Stuyvesant Street and Borough Place. It houses the Borough President's Office, offices of the Department of Buildings and other civic offices.

This French Renaissance style brick building is three stories high with a massive two-story mansard roof. There is lavish limestone trim around the windows, a stone base, stone center entrance, and Doric columns separating the windows. The high clock tower in the center can be seen from the harbor and throughout the neighborhood of St. George.

Park Avenue Tower

Park Avenue Tower is located in Midtown and stands on 55th Street near Park Ave. It was completed in 1987 by Murphy & Jahn Inc. Architects. The postmodern building combines art deco and modern styling and the walls angle upward toward the rooftop pyramid.

Although, the ornamental pyramid is illuminated at night in an effort to stand out in the skyline the building gets upstaged by its taller neighbors like the IBM Building, Trump Tower and Sony Tower.

Lever House

Standing at 21 stories tall the Lever House was completed in 1952 and was the second glass curtain wall skyscraper in the city (The United Nations Building was the first).

The building was designed by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and is located at 390 Park Avenue in between 53rd and 54th Street.

You can find more about the building at nyc-architecture.com.

WR Grace Building

The WR Grace Building stands 198 meters Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan on 42nd Street in between 6th Avenue and Fifth Avenue.

It was built in 1971 by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The building has a sloping base similar to The Solow Building and is home to many Fortune 500 companies.

Museum of the City of New York

Completed in 1928 the Museum of the City of New York is one of the most elegant museums in the city and looks like a Georgian- Colonial mansion sitting on Fifth Avenue between 103rd and 104th Streets.

The museum has five major exhibits all devoted to the history of New York from the days of Dutch settlement to the present day metropolis. On the fourth floor you can find a recreation of room from the Rockellefer's 5th Avenue mansion.

City Hall

One of New York's oldest and most beautiful buildings comes to SimCity for a special one year anniversary upload.

New York's City Hall was constructed from 1803 to 1812 and is the oldest City Hall in the nation.

The famous structure is a National Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Give your city the gift of this historical landmark.

Washington Square Arch

The symbol of Washington Square Park comes to SimCity. Simtropolis BATter Jasoncw lent a helping hand with the New York recreation project and created this for me. Many thanks to Jason.

From the description at Simtropolis,

"In 1888, to celebrate the centennial of George Washington's presidential inauguration, a wooden and plaster arch was erected at Washington Square Park, in New York City. The temporary arch was so popular that in 1892, a permanent arch, made of marble, and designed by New York architect Standford White, was built. The two statues of President Washington were added to the North side of the arch in 1918.

100 United Nations Plaza

100 United Nations Plaza is a pricey residential highrise located at 48th Street and 1st Avenue near the United Nations Building. The structure was built in 1986 and is 557 ft tall.

The postmodern triangular topped building was a prominent East Side highrise until it was overshadowed by its neighbor across the street, Trump World Tower in 2001.

Two Times Square

It's finally here! The SimCity download you've been waiting for, 2 Times Square.

2 Times Square (also known as the Renaissance Times Square) was built in 1991 and rises to a height of 94 meters above Broadway and Seventh Avenue. Apart from being one of the most photographed hotels in New York the structure is also famous for the Coca Cola billboard.

Duke Mansion and 1001 Fifth Avenue

An Upper East Side 2 for 1 for SimCity! The Duke Mansion (located at 82nd and Fifth Avenue) and its modern next door neighbor 1001 Fifth Avenue come on one lot. The buildings come as ploppable landmarks and can be found in your landmark menu.

The Duke Mansion was built for the tobacco tycoon family, the Duke's, during the turn of the century.

The building was built in 1901 by the tag team architectural firms Alexander Welch and Smith & Provot. The beautiful mansion is located directly across the Fifth Avenue from the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. From nyc-architecture.com,

" This red-brick building has large curved bays on its avenue and side street frontages topped by balustrated balconies, a very handsome rusticated limestone one-story base, limestone quoins, a handsome fenced moat, and a delightful mansard roof capped with finials that were replaced in 1985 when the building was renovated and subdivided into apartments." To learn more visit nyc-architecture.com

Right next door is its tall neighbor, 1001 Fifth Avenue. It was built in 1979 by famous architect Philip Johnson and was disliked when it was constructed by residents in the area since it "disrupted the classical streetscape", according the AIA Guide to NY at least. The entire facade consists of limestone to mimic the surrounding neo- classical apartments it towers above. The apartment complex rises 22 stories above the Duke Mansion. St. Paul's Chapel

Located in Lower Manhattan on Broadway between Vessey and Fulton Streets,
St. Paul's Chapel is one of the New York's oldest churches located amongst the towering skyscraper's in the Financial District.

Completed in 1766, the original structure still stands today despite being threatened by destruction by several fires during the 18th century and the 9/11 attacks. Known for it's beautiful Federal style architecture inside and out St. Paul's is gem in amongst the Downtown streetscape.

New York Stoplights
Two props are included in the zip file: A straight, signal box unit and the more common diagonal double signal box unit. I have uploaded it as a gmax model file so you can change the style and textures in BAT if you want to.

In the future I plan on creating a New York Streetlight mod which will replace the in-game traffic lights. Until then, you can download the traffic light props.

New York Payphone Prop

One Chase Manhattan Plaza

28 Liberty Street, formerly known as One Chase Manhattan Plaza, is a banking skyscraper located in the downtown Manhattan Financial District of New York City, between Pine, Liberty, Nassau, and William Streets. Construction on the building was completed in 1961.[2] It has 60 floors, with 5 basement floors, and is 813 feet (248 m) tall, making it the 26th tallest building in New York City, the 43rd tallest in the United States, and the 200th tallest building in the world.

The building is built in the International style, with a stainless steel facade with black spandrels below the windows. Designed by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the building echoes the firm's earlier Inland Steel Building in Chicago.

Hilton Hampton Inn NYC

Another great creation froMattb325, from the description on Simtropolis:

Hampton Inn New York, by Mattb325.

---------------------------------------

This high-rise hotel fills a gap in the paucity of larger CS§§ available. Particularly as your region starts to develop, having a lack of larger CS§§ buildings can really stifle additional city development. This leads to a drop in demand across your residential drivers and can completely tank any additional growth at all.

This building is inspired by the Hampton Inn Hotel on W35th Street near Macy's next to the Hilton Garden Inn that I have just released. It is a basic New York 20th Century high rise box: brick construction, aluminium windows and a recent 'renovation' by the Hilton group (the Hilton owns both buildings) has given it decorative chequer-board style metal boxes along the street facade.

In reality it is a tall W2W building with two blank brick walls on either side (yuck) so I have given the building windows on both sides. If this is the 'Hamptons', well, I think I'd prefer to camp out at the New Jersey turnpike.

In the pictures I have shown adjacent to the Hilton Garden Inn: it is the smaller red brick building.
The building is offered as a CS§§ growable on a 1x1 and 1x2 high-density lot providing 151 jobs. It grows only on the New York Tileset so shouldn't become too weedy.

If you want this as a ploppable, I recommend downloading buggis extra cheats and then selecting it via the 'buildingplop' option.

The Plaza Hotel

One of the most famous and luxurious hotels in the world is finally available for SimCity- The Plaza Hotel created by mattb325! From Simtropolis:

Plaza Hotel New York, by Mattb325.
---------------------------------------
Like so many buildings in New York city, the Plaza Hotel can claim 'icon' status.
This 20-story landmark building opened in 1907 on Central Park South and the main entrance faces the Grand Army Plaza (from which the Plaza Hotel derives its name).

The building is in a French Renaissance Chateau style. It was extended in 1921 with the addition of a 300 room annex along W 58th St.

This is a complex building - indeed one of the more complex buildings I have batted - with no two elevations the same.

While the BAT I have made is a fairly faithful interpretation of the real Plaza hotel, in order to get this into a game constrained by 16m 2 tiles, I have had to reinterpret some elements of the building.
The main areas that have been deliberately altered  to ensure that this is a good and useful game asset (rather than a strict recreation) are most evident along the W 58th St side, which in real life is longer than the Central Park Side.

To that end I have taken off approx 10m along the W 58th St frontage which ensures that the building sits comfortably on 5 tiles and added a matching roof turret for symmetry.

The front elevation is slightly narrower than the original to ensure that it sits within a 4 tile space. This is to ensure that other W2W buildings, which are typically 2 tiles deep can grow (or be plopped) adjacent to the building and neatly align (as per the screenshots).

Lastly, the roof junk has been deliberately streamlined and simplified to avoid the very cluttered roof-top look of the original building.

All that said, if you believe that a recreation must be 100% accurate, then this BAT is not for you, as I have made the changes to the building in order to ensure that it is a good and useful game asset.
The building comes in a growable CS§§§ 4x5 lot, a ploppable CS§§§ 4x5 lot and a growable R§§§ 4x5 lot.

It grows on the New York tileset and given that is an oversized Chateau, in my opinion would work equally well in a Euro environment.

Reddonquixote does it again and brings us a beautiful BAT of New York's most famous skyscraper, the Chrysler Building! More impressively it also comes with accurate lighting on the iconic art deco crown, which looks outstanding in the game at night. From the description on SC4 Devotion:

The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco style skyscraper located in Manhattan at the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue. Completed in 1930, at 319m it is the tallest brick building in the world. The Chrysler Building is the 4th tallest building in New York, (tied equal height with The New York Times Building, 2007)

The Chrysler Building is a classic example of Art Deco architecture and considered by many contemporary architects to be one of the finest buildings in New York City.

 Statue of Liberty

A great BAT of the famous and iconic Statue of Liberty by reddonquixote. From the description on SC4 Devotion:

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in New York Harbor in New York City. It was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated 1886. The statue is of a robed female figure bearing a torch and tablet. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue is an icon of freedom and of the United States, a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.

Source: Wikipedia

This is my 31st BAT, and my very first BAT release for the LEX.

The Statue of Liberty is a Landmark overhanging prop that sits on 1x1 lot (Covers approx. 8x8 lot space). Costs §2500 to build and §150 per month. There are two versions of the model.
1) The familiar patina green version atop a tiered platform, as we see today.
2) A copper metal version on a grassy mound, as she first appeared in 1886.

299 Park Avenue

Another Park Avenue creation from PGBV. This time 299 Park Avenue. Standing at the corner of 48th Street stands the 43 story skyscraper constructed during the 1960's office tower box fad. The building is most noted for serving as the headquarters of UBS PaineWebber. You can download it from PGBV's blog.

JP Morgan Chase Tower (270 Park Avenue)

PGBV has been working hard on this creation and has finally finished his rendition of this notable Midtown skyscraper. From Emporis, "The JPMorgan Chase Tower (formerly the Union Carbide Building) is a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, designed by the office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. It was built in 1961, and served as the headquarters for Union Carbide before that company moved to Danbury, Connecticut and was bought by Dow Chemical. It is currently the world headquarters for JPMorgan Chase. The building is 52 stories high and is currently undergoing a full renovation in order to achieve a LEED Platinum certification." 425 Lexington Avenue

From PGBV comes 425 Lexington Avenue, a small but notable skyscraper in amongst the Midtown streetscape. From Simtropolis:

"425 Lexington Avenue

-Helmut Jahn, 1988

Jahn, the Chicago-based architect, designed this building to blend with and compliment its surroundings.  This was required in a neighborhood with so many architecturally rich and recognizable buildings such as the Chrysler Building, just next door, and the UN Secretariat down the street.  Jahn's Manhattan works also include Park Avenue Tower, 750 Lexington, and the CitySpire Center.  All are great examples of the architect's bizarre style and 80's opulence.

"Less is More!"
L. Mies van der Rohe

Seagram Building by Ludwig Mies van der  Rohe built for Canadian booze peddler Seagram and Songs Plc is considered to be both finest example and originator of "corporate box" - or so called International Style.

Apparent simplicity is deceiving. By the time 38 storey tower on New York Park Avenue has been opened in 1958 it was the most expensive skyscraper ever built, and it curtain wall made out of solid bronze and bronze tinted glass still remains the most expensive facade to this day!

Federal Hall

From Simtropolis comes another creation from Lower Manhattan,  "NYBT Presents- Federal Hall

Now the once first official NYBT upload is back on the STEX.

Federal Hall is an old building located in the Financial District of New York City, right next to 40 Wall Street, or the Trump Building. The site(not the building itself) is famous for a few events like when George Washington was frist sworn in to be President. I believe this building once housed a Federal Reserve Bank branch once too.

Credits to Google Earth Modeler Mason Thrall for the basic shape(Hanson784 emailed me the file to finish it up) of the building(details and most of the textures were by me) and other Google Earth Modeler Anonymous(actual username from what I remember) for the 3d George Washington Statue that I re-textured and resized.

New York Supreme Courthouse

The NYC BAT Team brings famed courthouse from 1925 to the SIMing community thanks to the wonderful BATing skills of seraf. From the description on NYC.gov,

"The Supreme Courthouse (the New York County Courthouse) overlooks Foley Square and is located between Worth and Pearl Streets. The building houses the Supreme Court and the Office of the County Clerk.

'In 1927 the New York County Court moved from the old Tweed Courthouse to this spacious granite-faced building. The Boston architect Guy Lowell won a competition in 1913 with a design for a round building. Construction was delayed and the design altered to a hexagonal form; work finally began in 1919. The Roman classical style chosen was popular for courthouse architecture in the first decades of the 20th century.'

The courthouse was the first major New York commission for the well-known Boston architect Guy Lowell (1870-1927). He designed the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the building plan for Philips Academy at Andover, Massachusetts. He was also a landscape architect and designed formal gardens for Andrew Carnegie and J. Pierpont Morgan in New York. The courthouse rises above a 100-foot wide flight of steps to an imposing colonnade of 10 granite fluted Corinthian columns. Above the columns are engraved words attributed to George Washington: "The true administration of justice is the firmest pillar of good government." The lot is a 7x9

Bronx County Courthouse

The Bronx County Courthouse is one of the boroughs most recognizable landmarks and now it comes to SimCity thanks to nofunk.

From the description on Simtropolis, "The Bronx County Courthouse (now known as the Mario Merola Building) was built between 1931 and 1933 and designed by architects Max Hausel and Joseph Freedlander. After its completion, the Herald Tribune newspaper declared the mixed neoclassical and modern building a prime example of "Twentieth Century American style." This grand building was designated a New York City landmark in 1996. Now, there's also a trick. Such a stately and grandiose building can't just be plopped willy-nilly into any town; it requires an equally grand city. That is why this is only available as a reward! (Of course, if you know the trick, then I suppose you can still plop it.) A very special thanks to Andreas Roth for modding the reward lot and to JasonCW for help texturing.

Swellfront Rowhomes

Marcszar is back with some new urban creations. Despite his latest work being based off of row houses from Troy, NY these row homes are very similar to other row homes in Brooklyn.

From SC4 Devotion, "Troy, New York is a gritty industrial city located on the Hudson River just north of Albany, the state capital. The east end of the Erie Canal terminates in Troy and the city is the seat of Rensselaer County.

Troy has a rich industrial history- the US steel industry was born in Troy in the early 1800s before gradually moving on and expanding to the midwest later in the 19th century. At one time the city manufactured most of the men's shirts and collars made in the US. Numerous precision instrument firms were located in Troy and a few still call the city home. The Emma Willard School, one of the first girls' boarding schools in the US, was established in Troy.

The country's first polytechnic university, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, was also founded in the city.
Troy is well-known for being the home of "Uncle Sam." Legend has it that soldiers stationed at the Watervliet Arsenal across the Hudson River during the War of 1812 received food shipments from a Samuel Wilson in Troy who stamped his barrels with the initials "U.S." The initials actually stood for "United States [Army]" but soldiers familiar with Samuel Wilson assumed they stood for his nickname "Uncle Sam". Over many years, the "Uncle Sam" moniker evolved into the personification we are familiar with today. As in many other northeastern US cities, rowhouses were built throughout Troy in the 19th and early 20th centuries as the city grew.

Likewise, a trend towards suburban housing construction and deindustrialization led to the gradual depopulation of the city in the postwar era, an unfortunate process which is still ongoing today. As in many other aging cities in the US, parts of the city were demolished in the postwar era to make way for "urban renewal"- many historic buildings were demolished to make way for parking lots and housing projects, but examples of fine 19th century architecture still fill the city.

The rowhouse BATs in this set are based on two real "swell front" rowhouses in the North Central neighborhood of Troy though similar "swell front" rowhouses can be found in many other northeastern US cities. Each of the ten different rowhouses in this set sit on their own lot and have been paired with a random rowhouse prop for variety. All the lots are CAMpatible but do not require the CAM to function correctly. The lots will only grow on medium and high-density residential zones.
See the readme for stats and other details. You can view thumbnail images of all the rowhouses in this set here.

599 Lexington Avenue

An architecturally angular skyscraper from 1986 makes it way into SimCity.

From Simtropolis, "Evening gents [and ladies], This is 599 lexington avenue, one this island on the Hudson River that you may or may not have heard of [Manhattan].

Said tower was constructed within the last millenium out of various manmade or natural materials and consists of an undefined amount of windows and stories arranged in such a manner so that it appears pleasing to the eye. For a more informative descriptive description, try wikipedia.
In all seriousness, the aforementioned scraper of the sky is located along Lexington Avenue next to the Citicorp Center and near the Lipstick Building.

It stands around 200m tall [approximation] and is most recognizable for its unique shade of teal and its triangular roof. The building is also host to a subway station which can be seen in the movie "the Taking of Pelham 123" [the new one].

599 Lexington Avenue Subway Station

The brand new subway station located in the plaza of 599 Lexington Avenue makes its way into SimCity.

From Simtropolis, "This here concoction is a dual purpose upload. It contains a prop I made for my 599 Lexington Avenue upload as a dependency, but also an individual lot for those of you who wish to use just the station. It also has an invisible building for the subway which i needed for the functional station [as the station itself is a prop]. So this is what you get, a little small side upload to go along with the big boy upload [which should come in a few minutes].

Take it or leave it, its not my best effort so i won't be offended if you tell me I'm a loser :P

885 Third Avenue

Completed in 1986 and designed by Philip Johnson standing 885 Third Avenue stands 36 stories above Midtown.

From Simtropolis, "53 at Third or the "Lipstick Building" is located at 885 3rd Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. It was named for its appearance (similar to a lipstick container). It's façade is made of stainless steel and red and salmon polished granite. There are no dependencies." Created by PBVG

40 Wall Street

40 Wall Street is stands 70 stories above Wall Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan. Originally known as the Bank of Manhattan Trust building, it was later known by its street address and today is known as the The Trump Building after it was purchased by Donald Trump in 2006.

The building, located on Wall Street between Nassau Street and William Street.

It was completed in 1930 after only 11 months of construction after a race to get completed before the Chrysler Building could claim the title of the "world tallest building" though that title was short lived as the Empire State Building took it in 1931.
From Simtropolis, "The most due update was finaly come in ! This is the second version of the awesome 40th Wall Street, one main symbol of New York City.
Built in only 11 months, it's an record and a pride for the New Yorkers !
In 1929 this building hight of 283 meters and 70 floors was the tallest of the world, but was eclipsed by the Crysler Building the next year.

Apple Store (Fifth Avenue)

The famous Apple Store on Fifth Avenue comes to SimCity. The flagship NYC Apple Store is located on Fifth Avenue in the plaza of the General Motors Building (5th and 59th Street) and is a glass cube completed in 2006. A glass elevator and spiral staircase transports customers to the store underneath the plaza.

FDNY Ladder 10 Fire Engine

Some great FDNY automata from Gwail as a dedicated to the hero's of 9/11. From Simtropolis:

"Both units are from Ten House at 124 Liberty Street, NYC. Both units have been destroyed on September 11, 2001 due to WTC Towers collapsion and replaced within couple of months.

Engine 10 is a 2002 1000/500 HP Seagrave High Pressure Pumper. Ladder 10 is a rear-mount aerial fire truck designed by Seagrave Fire Apparatus to FDNY specifications. It's one of twenty-five 2001 Seagrave 100 foot rearmounts, delivered in late 2001 and early 2002. The Ladder Company 10 re-entered service on February 19, 2002, the new apparatus has been delivered on March 28, 2002. This particular rearmount is the only one in the FDNY fleet, with the distinctive murals painted on its sides. The 23-foot illustrated mural, designed and donated by Seagrave employees, and similar to the 911 memorial flag-raising image, was applied to both sides of the body to depict a front view of the flag raising on the driver side, and the back view on the officer side (source: www.fdnytenhouse.com).

Both models have fully function flashing / realistic blinking lights and nightlight models for nighttime running.
Important: if you use any light mods, such as Gizmo's day and night mods, be sure that any model is loaded AFTER the mods, for proper lighting. Don't forget to download SimGoober's Ten House fire station. Full details and installation instructions in the README file. If you have any question or bug report, please visit my development thread at SC4Dev." Created by the NY BAT Team.

17 State Street

From Simtropolis, "This is a quick tower recreation of 17 State Street in Lower Manhattan for the New York BAT Team. Honestly it took about 3 hours tops. A very simple building, although it did provide one challenge in that the base was literally impossible to find pictures of because it is hidden so well beneath the building.

However, i was able to get it, I exaggerated the size a bit so that it is slightly visible from some views so you know it is there. I also chose to make it a diagonal lot rather than a NAM curve as I planned because it takes forever to figure out those dimensions and tonight was really my last chance to get this thing done for a few weeks.
Anyway, I think it turned out well, in RL the building is fairly noticeable due to it's proximity to the waterfront and its well-known glass curved wall facing the water. A simple yet pretty tower, its 165 meters in RL, scaled up 133% for a realistic looking BAT here. 43 stories tall, and obviously located at 17 state street next to Battery Park. I'd like to dedicate this one to Simcity4fan12 for his excellent job in getting together a great group to BAT New York. Anyways: Comes as a Static Landmark and a Growable CO$$. No Dependencies. Growable is stage 8 and not diagonal because growing diagonals is pointless." Created by Kryptowhite

One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza (375 Pearl Street)

Built in 1976 One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza is one of the most well known ugly building in the Manhattan skyline and has been captured in many movies and TV shows. Now it's in SimCity.

This building serves as a data center housing NY Telephone and Co telecom equipment (which was purchased by Verizon Wireless) and rises 32 stories above the streets. It also built out of concrete to protect it from potential attacks. Interestingly enough the leftover funds were used to build Murray Bergtraum High School which is right next to the building.

In 2006 the building owner (Verizon) planned to sell the building to developers and convert it into an office building in hopes of updating the buildings facade with glass and redoing the interior for office space but plans fell through due to the current financial crisis. Though had the plan gone through One Brooklyn Bridge would look like the new glassy version of 1095 Avenue of the Americas as which is now owned by MetLife.

From Simtropolis, "The infamous "eye sore" finally comes to Simcity. This building is based on 375 Pearl Street in New York. This lot contains the high-rise part only. The low-rise building will come soon as a seperate prop or maybe a lot. The building is a growable High Tech skyscraper with 1152 jobs and sits on a 5x4 lot. Sorry no ploppable version. If you have the extra cheats plugin, then you could plop it.
Enjoy." Created by simcity4fan12.

130 Liberty Street (Deutsche Bank Building)

130 Liberty in Lower Manhattan was only became well known recently due to 9/11 which it was heavily damaged in. The building had a multistory gash in it, deemed structurally unsound and as a result is in the process of being (very slowly) torn down.

A new building will be constructed some time in the future called 5 Word Trade Center. From Simtropolis, "
Based on 130 Liberty Street in New York, or the Deutsche Bank Building. The real building currently is being demolished do to being damaged beyond repair in the September 11, 2001 attacks. The lot will be the future site of the new 5 WTC.

The Building is a growable 4x5 lot and is Medium Wealth Commercial Office with 5335 jobs.

MTA/NJ Transit RTS Bus

Even more NYC buses for to take a spin around your city in. This time GMC RTS buses from Glenni who modded his props into drivable buses. He even included an NJ Transit version because Jersey is the 6th borough afterall ;)

From Simtropolis: "This is the GMC RTS, one of the most common buses across North America, the buses operate in many cities and states, these particular buses i made are based on MTA (New York City transit) and NJ Transit ( New jersey Transit). I don't plan on doing any reskins to this, but if you want to make one, feel free to do so. Just give me credit. Now, these buses would never work without the help of Simfanatik. I made the models, but the modding, lightning and simply the functionality of these were made possible by Simfanatik, big kudos to him! Important: Bus 1 is (MTA) New york Bus 2 is (Nj Transit) New jersey Both files come as additionals. and replacements.

Remember that you can only have one replacement file, if you install both the only one bus will appear, in addition it might appear rather screwy. Keep your eyes peeled for more buses coming from me and Simfanatik in the future. Models: Glenni Modding & Nightlighting: Simfanatik"

MTA Bus- Orion VII

Another great bus by Gwail for your sim streets, this time a hybrid buses to reduce emission. From Simtropolis, "I'm presenting another bus of my NYC MTA recreation project. It's an Orion VII (first generation), a low-floor bus used by MTA New York City Transit, being built by a canadian manufacturer Orion International in 2001 - 2007, replaced by Orion VII NG (next generation). New York Marriot World Financial Center (85 West Street)

Built in 1991 this building is a short and gets lost in the skyline of Lower Manhattan. To try to make it stand the architect designed the facade in orange bricks. Even though it was damaged in 9/11 it was restored and reopen for guests.

From Simtropolis, "I finally updated the original by changing textures and adding or removing certain details. I'm not sure if any one remembers the old one I uploaded(The Resident hotel), but this one is much improved and (if you downloaded the old one) you shouldn't have to delete the original. This time it is Medium wealth Commercial with 1555 jobs. There is no ploppable available, it developes like the other maxis buildings. This building is based on 85 West Street or The Marriott Financial Center(proper title?) in New York, though IT IS NOT INTENDED TO BE ACCURATE." Created by simcity4fan12

AT&T Long Lines Building (33 Thomas Street)

Not one of New York's most beautiful buildings but still necessary if you're recreating NYC. It is located in Tribeca and serves as a data center in real life and was built in 1974 in the Brutalist architectural think anyone wants to see if those claims are true.

From Simtropolis, "*Updated * I fixed some stats. The real building has no windows(except for the entrance) so it does not light up at night.(I've seen a pic of it at night, it's one of the darkest buildings in Lower Manhattan) This BAT is based on the AT&T Long Lines Building in New York. It is not intended to be accurate though. Since its a telephone switching building(or something like that), I wasn't completely sure if it should be commercial or industrial(like high tech?) so I made it a High Tech Industry Growable with 1305 jobs. It sits on a 6 by 4 lot. Hope you like it. If you want it to be commercial or ploppable, I'm sorry you have to do that yourself." Created by simcity4fan12

42-44 Bond Street

Another great SoHo (this BAT is from NoHo actually) creation hits the STEX brought to by beutelschurf, 42-44 Bond Street. From Simtropolis, "This building is originaly located in 42-44 Bond Street. The rebuild is a growable and/or a functional landmark and comes as a commercial office building with 84 jobs. Its on a lot of 1x2 tiles and is good for W2W cities."

NYPD ESU Police Truck

From Simtropolis, "Here comes the NYPD ESU police truck as a replacement of Maxis' standard police truck. I've found first pic of this truck while looking for good photos of some NYC buildings and couldn't resist not to do it. The model has fully function flashing / realistic blinking lights and nightlight models for nighttime running.

Freedom Tower (One World Trade Tower)

Freedom Tower (now called One World Trade) has finally been brought to SimCity by nycc06 after highly anticipated attempts by several BATer's.

As a last BAT for
nycc06 this is possibly his finest work and is sure to become one of the most popular downloads on various fansites. From the description at Simtopolis:

"Ok, here’s the one we have all been waiting for, it is my great honour to present the second part of my new WTC project, OneWorldTradeCenter, aka the FreedomTower. The tower has taken the best of this year to create and is my last gmax project that I will be making because I will soon be moving onto 3ds max.
The tower is 541m high and occupies a lot size of 7x5tiles. The lot is a partial diagonal lot although a non-diagonal version will soon be availabe from the sc4devotion LEX. The building provides 9100 CO$$$ jobs. Hope you all like my newest BAT project. Thanks again for all the support with making this tower.

New Goldman Sachs Headquarters

The unscrupulous investment firm Goldman Sachs is constructing a new 44 story headquarters in Battery Park City, even though they have the headquarters the have at 30 Hudson Street in Jersey City right across the river that is only 5 years old...

Despite this nycc06 has BATed a wonderful rendition of what the building will look like when it it completed later this year.

"
In celebration of my 19th birthday, I present to you the first phase of my New World trade Centre development project, The Goldman Sachs New World HQ (NWTC6). The tower is currently under construction in lower Manhattan and will be due for opening later this year. The tower stands at 228.3m high and provides 4450 CO$$$ jobs. Sears Department Store

From SimCity 4 Devotion, "This is a fictional BAT of an urban Sears Department Store. The design of this BAT was inspired by the architecture of the many W2W commercial/residential buildings found in New York City and other cities in the northeastern US. Before the 1960s one could find many similar urban department stores in cities throughout the US. Most cities lost their department stores in the postwar era as the suburbs and their accompanying shopping malls siphoned commercial activity away from city centers. Only a few of the largest cities (New York, Chicago, etc.) have managed to retain department stores and other commercial activity in their downtown cores.

In real life such a building would contain shops and stores on the ground floor and offices or apartments on the upper floors. Since such mixing of zones is not currently possible in SimCity 4, two lots for this BAT have been included: a CS§§ lot and an R§§ lot. The lots are CAMpatible but do not require the CAM to grow. They will only grow on medium or high-density commercial/residential zones next to street corners.

New York City Highrise Public Housing Set 1

From SimCity 4 Devotion, "The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) was created in 1934 in the midst of the Great Depression to provide badly-needed housing to New York City's many working families. At first the NYCHA focused on rehabilitating and remodeling existing tenements in the Lower East Side to transform them into public housing. Many of these early rebuilds - such as the "First Houses" - still survive and function as public housing today. By the late 1930s it was clear that large developments with new buildings would need to be built to keep up with demand.

In the 1930s and early 1940s, the NYCHA began construction of housing projects on a massive scale. These first few projects were actually low-rise apartment blocks, not the drab high-rise towers we associate with public housing today. It was only in the postwar era when the Corbusian "tower in the park" concept was adopted for most public housing in New York and the rest of the US.

Beginning in the 1970s and accelerating through the 1990s to today, most American cities have demolished their high-rise housing projects as politics and social and economic realities have changed the government's approach to public housing. Focus has shifted from the construction of high-rise towers to the provision of housing vouchers for private housing units instead. Some cities such as Baltimore, Chicago, and Detroit have demolished their high-rise housing projects and have begun replacing them with modern rowhouses, detached houses, or low-rise apartment blocks to provide a mix of subsidized and market-rate housing. So far, New York City has resisted this trend. It has experimented with the construction of smaller-scale mixed income housing, but the city has no plans to demolish its existing public housing for the foreseeable future.

There are fifteen growable residential lots included in this set- each lot is named after a real housing project in New York City. Each lot has a different arrangement of housing blocks; thus all the lots have different stats. The stage 6, 7, and 8 lots are CAMpatible (but do not require the CAM) and the stage 9 and 10 lots are CAMeLOTs (they require the CAM). The lots will only grow on high-density residential zones- it helps to hold down the CTRL key when zoning areas large enough for these lots. All fifteen lots will be installed into your plugins folder when you run the installer; simply delete any lots you don't want after running the installer. For example, you may wish to keep only the 5x2 and 5x5 lots if you want to grow these housing towers within small city blocks or you may wish to keep only the larger 5x10, 10x10, and 15x15 lots if you want to grow these housing towers on large expanses of land.

This is the second of three NYC housing project sets. Keep an eye on the LEX for the next set in the series! " Created by marcszar.

Macy's Department Store

The world famous Macy's comes to SimCity. From the description on Simtropolis,

"Macy's Department Store built in 1902 in New York. This beautiful Beaux-Arts style building was the source of my distress and frustration in the last four months. But now I know it's worthwhile and I hope that Macy's will look nice in your cities :)

This is the original building, without the part that was built later.

Archive contains 2 versions of the building, the first one with contemporary roof, the second one is inspired with the original roof. Each version contains holiday edition.
Lot size is 5x11, each edition available as grow and landmark.

The World Trade Center

From master BATer Rubrik3 comes a download of one of the most recognizable and historical places in Manhattan, the World Trade Center. From Simtropolis,

"Updated Jan. 29th. This update includes many tweaks by Vlakhaas to make the lot run a little smoother and have less dilapidation. The lot should have less of an effect on region and citywide demand, and now has double the subway capacity.
A BSC approved and reviewed release. The long wait is finally over. It's been a year in the making but the World Trade Center is finally coming to SimCity. This download includes the reward version of the complex and will give you another goal to try and accomplish. This lot is basically the same as the landmark lot with a few bonus features rewarded to you once you meet all of the requirements. PLEASE refer to the provided readme for all dependacy listings as well as the stats and reward requirements for the lot. If you're missing a prop or texture the solution is located within the included .htm file. Simply unzip the folder (making sure to read the readme) into your my documents/SC4/plugins folder. Much thanks to everyone at Simtropolis and the BSC Team for the support and the expertise needed for a lot of this scale. And thanks to SimGoober for use of his fabulous fauna props. Please refer to the readme for the extensive list of prop and texture packs used along with links to all of them." Don't forget to download the other dependencies.

Bronx Rowhouse Set

More BAT's from the Bronx for SimCity. From the description at SC4 Devotion: "Here are some rowhouse BATs based on several real apartment buildings along the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. These large W2W apartment buildings can be found throughout the Bronx and in parts of upper Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens, as well as in many other cities throughout the northeastern USA. Many of these rowhouses along the Grand Concourse were abandoned up until the early 1990s, when they were restored and reocuppied in the midst of a gentrification wave that spread from upper Manhattan into the lower parts of the Bronx."

There are 6 different versions of this BAT available- all the BATs sit on 2x3 lots. Three of the lots are low-wealth residential and three of the lots are medium-wealth residential. These lots are CAMpatible but do not require the CAM to grow. See the readme for stats and other details."

Lever House

From SC4 Devotion comes another Lever House for SimCity created by New York BATer marcszar. From the description;

"This is a new version of the Lever House BAT I released some time ago on the LEX. This new version has more realistic textures, better nightlights, and a few modeling tweaks. This BAT can be safely used alongside the older version, but a Cleanitol remove list has been included in the zip archive for those wishing to remove the older BAT before installing this one. This BAT sits on a 6 x 4 lot. Five lots have been included- growable CS and CO lots, ploppable CS and CO lots, and a LM lot. All five lots will be installed into your plugins folder; simply delete any lots you don't want after running the installer. The growable lots are CAMpatible but do not require the CAM to function correctly. See the readme for stats and other details.

The Lever House was built in 1952 by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill for the Lever Brothers soap company. It stands on Park Avenue in New York City, and like Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's famous Seagram Building right across the street, Lever House is a pioneering example of Modernist high-rise architecture. Lever House was only the second building in New York to be built using glass curtain wall construction. (Le Corbusier's Secretariat Building for the UN was the first.) The green-tinted glass used in the curtain wall was heat resistant and designed to reduce air conditioning loads within the building. The stainless steel mullions and window and spandrel glass of the curtain wall were designed with the intention of reducing maintenance costs, but they did not fare well under harsh weather. By the early 1990s, the curtain wall of the Lever House had deteriorated severely- water had leaked in behind the window mullions, corroding the supporting framing and allowing the mullions to bow and snap many of the spandrel panels. Varyingly-tinted green glass was used to replace broken spandrels and windows, giving the facade of the building a patchworked, neglected appearance. The building was renovated in 1998, and the patchworked curtain wall was completely replaced with modern weatherproof windows almost identical to the original ones in appearance.

More New York automata. This time FDNY fire engines created by Triborough. The description from Simtropolis, "This is a FDNY reskin based on the Swamper77 fire trucks and will replace the default ones in the game. They are reasonably accurate representations of FDNY apparatus.

Also of interest may our FDNY EMS ambulance for more of a New York experience." Created by Triborough

NYPD Police Car Mod

New York's finest come to the streets of SimCity. From Simtropolis, "BLaM nerdly_projects Cop Cars by nerdly_dood

This mod changes the in-game police car to a more realistic model than both the default one and the one that comes with the PEG cop car mod (which I used to create this; I have Pegasus' permission to release this update). It has your choice of standard bar-style red lights, or red and white lights in a V shape like real NYPD cars (Peg's mod has red and blue lights in a bar style rarely found in the US), and I also removed the numbers from the trunklid because every single cop car in your city (presumably a recreation of New York) had the same number.

This mod also replaces the police car props in your police station lots with a car that is identical to the ones driving on your streets. I intend to make and release a prop pack in the future so that you can have, if you want, a lot with every single one of my police cars in it (but I expect you would prefer several of the same kind)

Installation:

Just copy the dat file (ONLY ONE) to your SimCity plugins folder and play the game!

Dependencies:
A desire to have more realistic cop cars in your city; nothing that actually goes in your plugins folder... ;)

Parkside Apartments

From SC4 Devotion: "This BAT is not based off of any specific building in New York City, but its Art Deco design echoes that of many apartment buildings found throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. By the beginning of the 20th century, there was a gradual shift away from rowhouse construction in denser, newly-developed parts of Manhattan and the Bronx. Earlier in the 19th century, rowhouses were rapidly constructed all across New York. But by the turn of the century, developers and architects needed to design even larger buildings for the city's booming population. Their solution was the apartment block- large buildings with interior steel or wood framing (or occasionally masonry bearing-wall construction) with an exterior brick, tile, or stone veneer designed in the popular architectural styles of the day- Tudor Revival, Romanesque Revival, Art Deco, and Gothic Revival, for example. Like the rowhouses they evolved from, these brick apartment buildings were often W2W and contained large air/light shafts between blocks of buildings- these were often used as laundry-drying areas, playgrounds, and gardens by local residents. These large brick apartment blocks were built up till and throughout the interwar era. After WWII, there was a trend towards high rise construction instead. Such high rise "projects" were often clad with similar brick veneer but they usually were not embellished with the rich brick ornamentation of earlier buildings.

This BAT sits on a 4 x 4 low-wealth lot. Since the stats were generated with the PIM-X, this BAT is CAMpatible but it does not require the CAM to function properly. This lot will only grow on high-density residential zones.

New York Townhouses

The stately townhouses from the Upper East Side come to SimCity. From Simtropolis;

"As requested by many, here comes my old "Lexington Homes" in a new updated pack with four colour variation to create more variety in the row-homes areas of your cities.
Those houses are inaugurally modelled after two buildings opposite the MoMa on 53rd Street in New York, the style is typical for the richer one-family houses that are built on the narrow lots on Manhattans Upper East and Upper West.
The buildings are R$$ and grow on 1 x 1 or 1 x 2 lots. In the real world, those buildings are of course R$$$, but they make up lots of trouble for people in the game by "cancer-spreading" around the town followed by mass-abandonment when they build as $$$.
The names on the different houses are Lexington, Madison, Roosevelt and Garcia Homes. The Lexongton and Madison are named after the avenues in the neighbourhood where you can see a lot of those houses. Roosevelt is named after Roosevelt Island (and of course president Roosevelt who named the Island). The Garcia might be less obvious in its New York connection, it is named after New Yorks Joel Garcia, one of the best BAT architects back in the SC3000 days. So this building is my honour to anice fellow in the Sim City communityand also a honour to one of the survivors of the 9/11 attack.
Install tips:
If you already have some old Lexington Homes version (either R$$ or R$$$) installed, you can keep it along with the new set. If you delete the old one, all your old Lexingtons will be gone. If you install the new set straight off while keeping the old lots, of course the Lexingtons will grow more often than the others because they are doubled in the plugins folder. To avoid this, simply delete the Lexingtons from the new set." Created by Odd from Sweden.

Times Square Toy R Us

Constructed in 2001 the Times Square Toys R Us flagship store is located on Broadway between 44th and 45th Streets. The store boasts some impressive displays such as a 20 foot tall animatronic replica of the T-Rex from Jurassic Park, a two story Barbie doll house and a working 60 foot ferris wheel that you can ride on. From the description at Simtropolis;

"Did this thing a while ago but never uploaded cause it's not 100% accurate but awful close. It was something I needed for a section in my city. thought a few might like it though so here it is. It sits on an 8x4 lot and is a ploppable landmark and costs 18,000 to plop. No jobs but I thought the night lighting looked kinda cool."

Brooklyn Rowhouse Set

From SC4 Devotion; "Here is an addon to my previously-released New York City Rowhouse Set: another set featuring rowhouses commonly seen in Brooklyn, New York. Many of these rowhouses can also been found in the Bronx as well as in Queens. These rowhouses are typically located in residential neighborhoods of lower density than my previous rowhouse set. While the types of rowhouses from my previous set can often contain shops on the ground level, this is not very common in solidly-residential rowhouses like those in this set.

A total of five R$$ lots are included in this set, with each lot featuring two completely-unique buildings. Each of the 2 x 2 lots feature paired rowhouses slightly offset from each other. When grown in a row, this slight offset between rowhouse pairs will allow a zig-zagged line of rowhouses to line your city streets. These rowhouses are fully CAMpatible as their stats have been generated with the X-Tool, but the CAM is not required for them to grow.

Such rowhouses were built throughout New York City and other large northeastern American cities in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. You'll notice many small gaps between the rowhouses- these were barely legal air shafts designed by the rowhouse developers so that they could fit as many tenants as possible into a building that used up as much of the lot as possible without drawing the attention of New York's Council of Hygiene and Public Health. You can read more about the history of New York City's tenements here.

Up until the 1950s, these rowhouses were home to a variety of tenants- blue collar workers, immigrants, the newly-emerging white collar office class, and a myriad of minority populations as well. However, with racial tensions and white flight, deindustrialization, and suburbanization fueled by the new Interstate Highway System, the city lost roughly a million residents from the 1960s to the 1980s before rebounding in the early 1990s. As the upper classes were moving out, blacks from the South and other minorities moved in. Even with the influx of minorities, population density in rowhouse neighborhoods fell sharply and much of New York City's housing stock began deteriorating rapidly.

By the 1980s, riots, looting, arson, and widespread abandonment were responsible for the destruction of many of these rowhouses, and some parts of the city (Bronx in particular) were filled with vacant, burned-out shells and empty lots reminiscent of WWII ruins in Europe. Many residents were convinced New York City was in a permanent decline, but beginning in the early 1990s, a resurgent economy, new policing tactics, and a new city government led New York City into a renaissance. Many rowhouses have been repaired and rents have soared as the city's rising population demands more and more housing.

Pinehurst Apartments

The tudor style apartments which can be found all over the city, specifically Upper Manhattan and the Bronx, make their way into SimCity. From SimCity Devotion;

"This BAT is based off of an early 20th century Tudor Revival style apartment building in New York City's Washington Heights neighborhood. As Manhattan swelled in population in the late 19th century, high density brick apartments spread to the northern tip of Manhattan and continued to spread into the Bronx in the early 20th century. As such apartments began to house the middle and upper classes, developers and local architects sought to break up the monotonous pattern of brick rowhouses by cladding individual apartment buildings in varying styles. Tudor Revival, Romanesque Revivial, Art Deco, and Gothic Revival were just a few styles out of many employed to "dress up" the many new apartment buildings.

This BAT sits on a 2 x 2 medium-wealth lot. Since the stats were generated with the PIM-X, this BAT is CAMpatible but it does not require the CAM to function properly.

This BAT was previously available at the STEX. If you already have this BAT, you do not need to redownload it. Nevertheless, if you still want to download it, please remove any older versions first.

New York City Rowhouse Set

The ubiquitous New York rowhomes come to SimCity! From the Bronx to Brooklyn this style of housing can be found in every borough. Dot you city today with these classic rowhomes. From SimCity Devotion;
"To celebrate SimCity4 Devotion's first anniversary, I've made a NYC-themed rowhouse set for you to include in your downtowns! Now you can recreate the Bronx, Manhattan's Washington Heights, or realistic urban neighborhoods from any other northeastern American city.

A total of ten growable lots are included in this set. Eight of the lots are 1 x 2 rowhouses, including one abandoned rowhouse! Two of the lots are 2 x 2 corner rowhouses with stores on ground level.

Create your own version of New York in SimCity with this map. An extremely accurate, large map you can build the Big Apple on. Includes all five boroughs and areas of New Jersey. From the description at Simtropolis,

"New York City is the largest city in the United States and one of the world's major global cities. Located in the state of New York, the city has a population of over 8.2 million within an area of 321 square miles (approximately 830 km²) making it the most densely populated major city in North America. With a population of 18.7 million, the New York Metropolitan Area is one of the largest urban areas in the world.

However, in SC4, it will be up to you to decide whether or not to replicate this giant, or to simply create something new.

This map was created using new 16bit technology that makes maps 100% accurate. Created entirely from 16bit PNG greyscale (JPEG is 8bit), the map never drops below 16bits of data. It is spaced for 16m per pixel, 1:1 in the SC4 world. The elevations are 100% accurate as per DEM data. This is an exact replica!

The map measures 7 large tiles wide by 10 large tiles long (1793x2561). A config is included in the package, however don’t limit yourself creatively, as it is all large tiles.

The various harbors and landings in the city were represented in the DEM data, and therefore are still present. They only take a few seconds to remove, however. Do so at your own risk!!

The Columbus Terrain Textures were used when opening/saving the city tiles in game, but any terrain mod can used to do the same.

The PEG Brigantine Water Mod was used when opening/saving the city tiles in game, but any terrain mod can used to do the same."

One Chase Manhattan Plaza

The famous One Chase Manhattan Plaza is located in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan. The International style building was completed in 1961 and rises 813 feet above the streets below. It was designed by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore Owings and Merrill who also designed the Lever House in Midtown on Park Avenue and the Inland Steel Building in Chicago.

Audubon Building

Built in 1891 and located near Cooper Union on Broadway and 4th Street, the Audubon Building is the headquarters for the New York Audubon Society, a group devoted to conserving and maintaining the natural habitat of birds.

The building's description from Simtropolis, "Originally called the Shermerhorn Building, the Audubon Building was built in 1891 in Manhattan, and was designed by George Post in the Romanesque Revival style. In 1989, the National Audubon Society purchased the building, and renovations were completed in 1992.

The National Audubon Society renovated the building with the environment and their money in mind. The building is an outstanding example, and a pioneer of green architecture. The cost of the building (per square foot) is in the same range as similar non-green buildings in the neighborhood, and it uses 62% less energy than New York's building codes require. This saves the Audubon Society 100,000 dollars a year.

This BAT was made by both me and Don Miguel. He started this building, and nearly finished it, and I completed it from where he left off. Most of the work on this building was done by him. Afterwards, lotting and modding was done by T Wrecks.
