Around Town: Summer in New York

It's the middle of summer in New York City. Here are a couple of popular New York summer spots from around the town. First stop the Brooklyn Heights Promenade.

The Brooklyn Heights Promenade is a great place to stroll along on a nice summer day and take in the dramatic views of the city riverside. See the views.

Next up a great summer spot in the Village, Washington Square Park. Surrounded by the New York University campus Washington Square Park is the backyard of Greenwich Village (and is also the unofficial "quad" of NYU).

Sit and relax by the fountain, play with your dog at the new dog run or pick a shady spot and watch the street performers.

Finally, we head to the Theater District to the Ed Sullivan Theater where The Late Show with David Letterman is filmed.

In the summertime at 53rd and Broadway tourist can be often seen waiting in line to get tickets to the Late Show. Some may stop by Rupert G's deli around the corner or crowd around to see the celebrity guests get out of their limos. Though tonight taping has ended and the only way to see the show is on TV.

We'll have more next time.

Wow this project keeps getting better and better. I'm wondering, will it be downloable to the public once it's finished? I'd certainly like to mess around with a few things.

Hi ravi,

Unfortunately the entire city itself cannot be downloaded as the file size would be too large to host on most servers.

Plus, the dependent files I have collected by others would have to be included and I have literally hundreds (and growing) pieces of content made by others associated with this project.

Thankfully, you can download my creations in the download section and produce your own New York like mine.

Thanks for stopping by.

I see. I'd certainly like to do it myself. However, I'd like to know what map your using for NYC? I mean there are dozens of New York maps out there. Also will WFC 1 and WFC 4 be made?

I would suggest using the New York Map by Beskhu3epnm at Simtopolis. Just search the STEX for "New York City Map" or his username.

I'm not sure when 1 and 4 World Financial Center will be released. The X Design Team is in the process of making them at Simtropolis. You can always send a PM to inquire on their progress.

Thanks a lot! I just downloaded the map and I have to say it's one of the best NYC maps out there. You can easily place the streets because of the way it's oriented. Before I forget though, is there a Met Museum being made? I can't believe Maxis didn't put it in SC4 after they put in Lincoln Center, the Guggenheim and the American Museum of Natural History. Thanks.

You're welcome.

Not to my knowledge. I may make it one day but we'll see if time allows.

Hi,
Do you know anythin gabout spacesyntax.com? its an analysis tool for architects and urban designers that somehow works like the tools of simcity, checking connectivity of roads etc. they earn a lot of money with this software.
A very very interesting task would be comparing the results of space syntax with the results of simcity analysis.
