Photomapping New York

For those of you that have been to Google Streetview you know how useful it is to cruise take a virtual cruise up and down the street to see what your destination looks like or what the neighborhood around a house you're thinking of buying is like.

Though, Google Streetview is also handy making my 3D map of New York and comparing accuracy with the real New York to the virtual one.

Check it out and hit the streets of New York in Google Streetview if you haven't already. (Be sure to check for out your own town if it's mapped.)

I also ran across another cool tool similar to Streetview for NYCJ, Every Scape. Everyscape.com is also a visual mapping service but it has images that are a bit higher resolution which is good for making textures.

Have fun and happy mapping. More coming up next time.

Hey, Elliot,

I'm sure you get that a lot, but is there any way people can get their hands on your SC4 NYC region? I'm willing real bad to play it. Do you mail it or upload or anything?

Cheers,
Pedro

Hi Pedro,

Are you talking about the region or the map I'm using? If you're talking about just the map you can get it the downloads section.

Though, uploading the entire map with the buildings and all the files would be extremely hard as there are hundreds of dependencies (supporting files that other have created) that you would have to download if you don't want brown boxes appearing all over the region.
