NYCJ Sets a World Record

I got news a while ago from a reader in the UK that they saw me in the 2008 Edition of the Guinness Book of Records Gamer's Edition. I went to my local bookstore yesterday to pick up a copy and I was surprised to see my name in the SimCity section on page 200 under "Most Dedicated Player." From the book:

"Elliot Hanson has been constructing the Big Apple in SimCity for nearly four years, "one pixel at a time." He has even reconstructed tributes to major events, such as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and 9/11. In his downtime, Elliot is working on re-creating San Francisco, Chicago, Washington DC and Boston."

Thanks to my all readers and the writers of the Guinness Book of Records Gamer's Edition 2008. Be sure to pick up a copy, there's a lot of interesting facts about not just SimCity but also many different types of games.

New Images for Cities Unlimted

Some old news (but not old for those who haven't seen it yet) for today. The simming community is excitedly awaiting the arrival of upcoming game Cities Unlimited. If you haven't taken a look be sure to check out the new images posted by the developers working hard over at cuplanet.com.

If you haven't seen them yet check them out and be sure to look at the day/night transition. Good things look to be in the works.

NYC in Cities Unlimited? We'll see :)

More next time.

New York Models

Just a little bit of (slightly) off topic news for today.

I ran across some interesting pictures of a scale model of New York at the Queens Museum of Art.

After doing a bit of research I found out this model was produced for the 1964 World's Fair. Pretty impressive.

I also ran across this physical model of Manhattan while doing further digging. This more updated model is on display in Japan:

And of course there's also New York in Legos at Legoland.

We'll have more of my digital model of New York next time.
